She will be participating in an Everest Base camp 15-day trek, raising funds for the Nepalese Earthquake Recovery Fund with five friends.
Speaking the day before her flight, Annureet says:
“With a big Nepalese community in Aldershot and several colleagues who were personally affected by the Nepalese earthquake in 2015, I have heard many stories of the devastation it caused and wanted to help in any way I could. I also thought it was fitting to give something back to the area where I will be gaining this amazing experience.
“Preparation for the trek has involved lots of incline walking with weighted backpacks, but I think the greatest challenge will be adjusting to the over 5,000 meter altitude. Some top tips from colleagues have included smelling the armpit to ward off altitude sickness, but we’ll have to see how we go!
“I think I’m still in denial about just how difficult this is going to be but I am certainly expecting it to be the biggest challenge of my life!”
Annureet is aiming to raise £2,000 for the Nepalese Earthquake Recovery Fund. Any donations would be most appreciated at www.justgiving.com/fundraising/team-ebc !
